IN ORDER for PNG to move forward, we need changes in polices that will give direction to the people. But by looking at how the country is heading, it seems like the people put in place to implement these policies are functioning on different level or breeding on the loopholes found within the policies.
It's been observed that policies that are put in place have been manipulated by the elite of this nation to direct their self ambitions and ordinary people of this nation are left in the darkness.
To help eliminate this, a review ought to be done on these policies with adjustments. The people have suffered enough in the last 36 years and they want to see changes physically in terms of service delivery and tangible projects taking place and impacting their living standards.
What the people want is fair distribution and equal representation. I do not know but is there a policy which prevents mandated members, especially opposition members and backbenchers from delivering to their constituency? Besides this point, I've noticed that there is a trend where elected members deliver goods and services only to their political cronies and clansmen while the rest of the constituency they represent suffers. We need a change in this sort of attitude, so please make policies on how even distribution should take place.
This has become a norm in our country and it's probably one of the many impediments to progress of our nation. The solutions to these problems lay in the hands of the people therefore make wise decisions when casting your vote in 2012 general elections. Remember your vote will either break or make the nation.
