K100,000 for Baiyer, Lumusa women - Western Highlands Province

By NEVILLE TOGAREWA

FOR 20 years, they suffered silently.
Now the women of Baiyer and Lumusa districts have reason to celebrate and look forward to the next 20 years - thanks to the Member for Mul Baiyer Lumusa, Sani Rambi, and Western Highlands Governor Tom Olga.
Mr Rambi gave the women K100, 000 at Baiyer district office last week where about 50 women from the Baiyer Lumusa Women's Association gathered to celebrate the incorporation of their group as a vehicle to help themselves, their families and communities to improve their lives.
James One Kupul is a volunteer who has played a key role in organising the 10, 000 women to set up ward or groups and register to form their district association.
The women have presented their submission for financial help to Governor Olga to fund poultry, piggery, fish ponds and fresh fruit and vegetable projects in the Baiyer Lumusa districts in the province.
According to Mr Kupul, the women are working closely with the Western Highlands provincial administration under Mr Olga's policies that recognise women as equal partners and key players in local, provincial and national development.
The Baiyer Lumusa Women's Association will be launched in the coming weeks where Governor Olga and Mr Rambi will be keynote speakers.
The women are hoping that Governor Olga will give them they money they need as per his provincial government's visionary policies to help women play a more effective role in their homes, families, villages and communities.
